My team has it's weak spots, but mainly I see a lot of potential with what I have. I didn't set my draft board at all, so I got stuck with a lot of older and bad players. Tried to weed out the guys that won't develop much but at the same time, keep the starting talent mostly the same. I had a 3-way QB competition, but Cleveland McCain (drafted in 44th round) jumped from 3rd on the depth chart all the way to first with not only a strong pre-season, but +6/+3 overall (now 51/62). We're a run-focused team, but it's good to know that I can depend on him and that he should continue to grow. He joins bloomer WR Tony Campos (+6/+4, now 53/66) as new, young starters that should be around for a long time in Washington.
I had to seriously address my DB situation because the CPU drafted me all of 3 CBs and like 6 safeties. My best player on my team is 88 overall CB (former 90s SS, in his 10th year) Ohman. With our man-defense, he's definitely going to prove useful in shutting down opponents' #1 options. I have 4 safeties that I feel will all develop into good starting-caliber talent, may auction off 1 or 2 of them next season depending on how they shape up, and I really like my front 7.
The stats don't lie, especially when it comes to Washington. We're going to run the ball, then run it again, and after that, run it even more. We had both the #1 and #2 rusher in the Preseason by yards, averaging a little more than 7 YPC and we had 6 rushing TDs in 4 games.
Washington went 4-0 in the Pre-season, scoring at least 25 points in each game with an average of 30.25, and our defense surrendered only more than 10 once (average 11.25, ), which was 26 to New Orleans. That was in garbage-time though, because we had a 28-5 lead at halftime. I know it's only preseason, but this team looks very promising. I just have to figure out how I'm going to feed my backfield committee and get enough passing plays in the gameplan in case I'm down. Haven't seen my team be down on the scoreboard much yet. When facing starters for 4 quarters though, hopefully Washington will keep up what it showed me in this Preseason.
